DRAMA GATE24: The Border 大空港～GATE24～©tv asahi As international crimes grow more sophisticated and severe than ever, airport immigration and customs serve as the nation’s final line of defense. In recent years, the number of foreign visitors to Japan has surged, placing unprecedented strain on the front lines of border control. To enable faster, unified responses, a special unit is established: GATE24 (Global Airport Task Enforcement). Despite this grand plan, GATE24 struggles to gain cooperation from the other agencies and is treated as an unwelcome outsider in the airport. Instead of a prominent post, they are assigned a small inspection booth tucked away in a corner of the airport, far from the main gates, handling mostly charter flights and small aircraft. GATE24 is a patchwork team assembled from different government ministries, including a newly appointed customs officer with a keen eye for detail—Machi Mori. As they confront the chaotic front lines of border inspections—where law, policy, and human emotion collide—they gradually grow into professionals protecting Japan’s borders. Cast
